Les différents sons en Français / The different sounds in French

I know you guys really want to nail the "r" sound in French but let me tell you one thing, this is not the most important sound you should practice.

During my 1:1 sessions, my clients always try to pronounce a perfect French"r" but even if you kind of roll it, it still sounds like an "r" and I can understand perfectly what you are saying.

I always tell people to focus more on these specific sounds:

-ain -in -un

ex: -le train - le vin - un

-eu

ex: -le jeu

-ou

ex: -bonjour

-on

ex: -le pantalon

-u

ex: -la musique

-ui

ex: -la nuit

-eau -o -au

ex: -l'eau - le piano -autre

-on -om

ex: -la maison -l'ombre

-ez -é -er

ex: -chez -l'été -manger

-ai -ê -è -elle

ex: -la chaise -la fête -lève -belle

-an -en

ex: -manger -prendre

-i

ex: -ici

And of course, you have to know how to pronounce all the consonants.

I am not saying this to overwhelm you, I just want to make sure you know how to pronounce these sounds for French people to understand you better :)

Practice the sounds with these videos:

You can always practice your pronunciation with this Translation Website or this Translation App

Bon courage :)
